I had a baby 5 months ago. I think I have postpartum depression. I'm so gloomy all the time and my marriage is going down the drain.. I'm a total B to my husband. I try really hard not to be, I love him to death but I guess my hormones are all out of whack so everything he says I snap at him. I have my first pap exam since having my baby Monday, would the OB/GYN put me on depression pills or should I see another Dr for that problem?

I am sorry to hear that hon. Try your hardest not to snap at your husband because, after having a new baby, you need him the most. My husband is so understanding and I have also snapped at him for stupid stuff.
Your OB would be able to put you on depression medication. When I saw my OB, she asked to make sure that I wasn't dealing with depression. Everyone handles it differently and it is great that you want the help for it before it gets too bad.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I am sure that the OB/Gyn could give you something. Just talk to them and tell then how you feel. I have that postpartum depression and I know how hard and challenging that can be, Please get help for it. Don't let you or your family suffer anymore. They can put you on something or get you some treatment that can really help you! Good Luck:)

I went through the same thing and it brings tears to my eyes reading this and remembering what it was like .
My nurse told me just to go see the regular GP, and he put me on anti-depressants, but your OB should be able to prescribe them too.
I truly hope you are feeling better soon.

you should go and see a psychiatrist to evaluate and assess your condition.
not every (blues) or (feeling really bad ) is necessarily a depression.
and not every depression is necessarily treated with pills .
there are many needed information and details about your condition to decide the right (management ) for your case.
the best one to refer you to the right psychiatrist is of course your OB/GYN.
